Thanks to the rise of compact, affordable hardware and powerful open-source projects like GRBL, these tools have found their way into homes and small workshops.
While they each use different technologies—cutting with a spinning bit, burning with a laser, or building with melted plastic—they all share a common challenge: understanding how tool size affects the final result.
This guide will help you grasp how different diameters affect your cuts and how you can compensate for these variations using either in-house tools from MIDILLI, or with adjustments directly in the G-Code.
This post is part of a quick, yet comprehensive guide (QCG) series by MIDILLI.

Are you looking for a single solution where all MIDI messages can be routed and filtered, even using Bluetooth? Then this router might be the one you are looking for!

That’s why, alongside the Gate and Toggle modes, we’ve added the much-requested Trigger mode!
Let’s quickly recap:
The new Trigger mode is perfect for scenarios requiring momentary triggering.
It’s ideal for triggering effects, scene changes, or short-duration events.
Plus, just like the other modes, Trigger fully supports automation.
When automation is enabled and used with alternate values, Trigger mode can behave somewhat like Gate mode. For example, while holding the button, it can repeatedly send signals switching between pressed and released values at specified intervals — but when released, no signal is sent.
To use it, simply update your firmware as well as the Configurator. If you need help on updating, check the respective section in the Configurator Manual.
You can already do a lot with your controller, but what if you could also manipulate SysEx values using your Knobs, Faders, and Buttons? What if you could include them in your automation too?
If that sounds exciting, we’re happy to announce our upcoming update: SysEx Message Builder.
With this feature, you can create static SysEx messages to send via any available interface—or make them dynamic by embedding the current 7-bit or 14-bit value of a control element.
14-bit values are often used by combining a Most Significant Byte (MSB) and a Least Significant Byte (LSB), typically placed in that order. In the Configurator, you can use XX
as a placeholder for the MSB and YY
for the LSB. These will automatically be replaced with the current values from your control element when the message is sent.
Using SysEx with Buttons? That means full automation support—even for exclusive device functions. Yes, really!
Remember: In the Configurator, you enter the full value directly; splitting into MSB and LSB is handled automatically.
If you need help with conversions, our converter tool is available both online and within the Configurator.
Stay tuned! We will have more exciting updates soon!

After our successful Kickstarter campaign, we were caught up in administrative work while also striving to bring even more to the table. At the same time, we were so eager to launch that some exciting features didn’t make it into the Release Trailer, even though they were available right after the 1.0 release. That’s why this update is coming a little later than planned—but trust us, it’s worth the wait!

I am excited to tell you that the MIDILLI launched its Kickstarter campaign. If you are interested, check it here.
