Summary: LumiFind 1.2 makes your searches smarter, faster, and more flexible. Find objects in videos, keep track of changes to your files automatically, and fine-tune searches with new controls. Whether you're hunting for that old clip or managing recent documents, LumiFind has you covered.

What happened to 1.1? It existed internally, but we never released it publicly. Since 1.2 brings bigger updates, we combined the best of both into a single release, so you get all improvements at once. Here are the changes:

Frame Detector

Ever remember an object from a video but can't recall where you saw it? Or maybe you wore a blue t-shirt in one clip and want to find that moment? LumiFind's new Frame Detector lets you search inside videos for specific frames. You can customize which frame detector model works best for you. These models are small, fast, and surprisingly accurate.

If you have already analyzed your videos, run analysis again. The Frame Detector will go through them and you can then select the Video Frame Search type from the dropdown. By default, LumiFind uses OpenCV SSD Coco, capable of recognizing 80 common objects, which can be changed in Settings. Video frames are checked approximately each second, which -of course- can be customized via Settings. Refer to the documentation for more.

If you would like to see some insights, you can activate DEBUG mode in the settings to see what it detected at the end:

Note: You can also search semantically, which means searching "ship" will also display "boat." If you have a multilingual model enabled, searches can also be made in another language.

File Watcher

LumiFind can now monitor selected folders and tracked files for changes such as new files, modifications, or deletions. When running, analysis begins automatically. Excluded folders are never monitored.

Disabled by default. Enable via Settings -> Analysis Settings
Analysis interval is adjustable in Settings. Default is 60 seconds

Oldest File Filter

Control your search scope by specifying the oldest files to include. For example, you can search only files from the last year or limit the analyzer to files from the last five years using the new date picker in Settings.

Improvements

  • Better hints for model choices in Settings where the model description and size are shown directly there
  • Advanced mode reveals fine-tune indexing and search settings. Disabled by default to keep things simple
  • Remember last search type. Ideal if your most used search type is not document search
  • Informative text below some of the settings which explains why search results may not be what you expected
  • New Actions menu for quick tasks:
    • Ctrl + E / Cmd + E switches to Search Mode and focuses Search Input
    • Ctrl / Cmd + 1..5 switches to Search Mode, sets the search type and focuses input
  • Validation added to prevent accidental invalid values (e.g. negative values or values that should be between 0 and 1)
  • Improved metadata search, letting you find files even if you only recall part of the path or format
  • Search settings immediately apply after saving, without requiring a restart.
  • Documentation updates

Fixes

  • Layout issues across different languages corrected
  • Windows updates redirect to download page for major updates
  • Analysis starts correctly for individual files when no folders are included
  • File size constraints now respected during image analysis
  • Localization improvements and fixes
  • Settings layout fixes: no more horizontal scroll on Settings, less flickering, better layout for smaller screens less than 1920x1080 resolution.
