LumiFind Ships Early. Here Is What Happened So Far

· MIDILLI

When we launched LumiFind on Kickstarter, our goal was simple: let anyone search their entire digital life privately, locally, and instantly. The campaign exceeded every expectation and today we are excited to share something even better. The first production release has already reached backers ahead of schedule.

Over the last few days we have started receiving real feedback from people using LumiFind in their daily workflow. It feels great to see the vision turning into something that helps others right away.

A Fast Start for a Simple Idea

LumiFind was created to solve one problem. Information spreads across drives, folders, USB sticks, cloud syncs, laptop migrations, archives, and backups. Finding something later becomes a guessing game. LumiFind keeps everything local, indexes it intelligently, and makes it possible to search documents, images, videos, and voice with semantic understanding. The core idea described in our project document is now running directly on backers’ machines.

First User Impressions

The early reactions have focused on the two things we care about the most.

Search feels natural.
Users reported that natural language queries return the right file or recording even if they cannot remember the exact name or location. One backer told us that they found a forgotten PDF inside a buried folder structure by searching a sentence they remembered from inside the file.

Privacy matters.
Everything runs locally. Nothing leaves the computer. Several users mentioned that they finally feel comfortable indexing sensitive work files because no cloud service is involved.

What changes after Kickstarter trailer?

We added the following features after the trailer is published:

  • New file formats:
    • Other file formats, such as PowerPoint, Excel.
    • Extraction of documents from compressed files.
  • External drive and network drive support.
  • Common indexing for multi-user/multi-tenant setups.
  • Cloud storage support.
  • Console support for servers, or terminals for remote access (e.g., SSH).
  • Email support, for analyzing its contents and searching semantically.
  • Additional display languages for the application itself (the content search was already multilingual): German, French, Spanish, and Turkish.

What Comes Next

The early delivery means development can now move faster. We are collecting suggestions for the next milestones. Several backers gave some feature request wishes via the backer survey. Our plan is to keep the core idea untouched: Private. Local. Powerful.

Everything else will expand around this foundation.

A Thank You to Everyone Who Believed in the Project

Shipping early is only possible because the community supported the project from the beginning. LumiFind started as a simple idea at lumifind.midilli.tech and grew into a full product with the help of every backer.

If you are one of the first users and want to share your experience, feel free to reach out. Your feedback directly shapes the next versions.
